| Streptomycin

Streptomycin is an antibiotic medication used to treat a number of bacterial infections, including tuberculosis, Mycobacterium avium complex, endocarditis, brucellosis, Burkholderia infection, plague, tularemia, and rat bite fever. For active tuberculosis it is often given together with isoniazid, rifampicin, and pyrazinamide. It is administered by injection into a vein or muscle.Streptomycin is an aminoglycoside. It works by blocking the ability of 30S ribosomal subunits to make proteins, which results in bacterial death.

| Typical data

As the OD values of the standard curve may vary according to the conditions of the actual assay performance (e.g. operator, pipetting technique, wash technique or temperature effects), the operator should establish a standard curve for each test. Typical standard curve and data are provided below for reference only.

Concentration (ng/mL) 5000 2500 1250 625 312.5 156.25 78.12 0
OD 0.19 0.24 0.31 0.55 0.97 1.38 1.96 2.52

| Repeatability

Intra-assay Precision (Precision within an assay):CV% < 10%; Inter-assay Precision (Precision between assays):CV% < 10%

| Recovery

The recovery of Streptomycin spiked at three different levels in samples throughout the range of the assay was evaluated in various matrices.

Sample Type Range(%) Average Recovery(%)
Cell Culture Supernates(n=8) 97-109 106

| Linearity

Samples were spiked with high concentrations of Streptomycin and diluted with Universal Diluent to produce samples with values within the range of the assay.

    Cell Culture Supernates(n=4)
1 : 2 Range (%) 90-111
Average (%) 96
1 : 4 Range (%) 105-115
Average (%) 109
